( Sorry, I do correct some inaccurate descriptions in recent page here accoriding to comments Mr. Cohen kindly gave me.)

Jazz Record Center
since 1983
Wonderful record shop!!! Only jazz vinyls (*) are on display at the space that is some four or five times larger than that of Disk Union of Tokyo. (*) Also CDs, videos, books, etc. are available, but jazz LPs are remarkable.
I have never seen such a big-stocked shop in Japan.

When I visited there, a master was, while operating his computer or organizing documents, having a chat with an old man, (I guess he is a next-door neighbor).

Mr. Fred Cohen, the master, is so tenderhearted gentleman. A few years ago, I visited this record shop noon but the door was closed. (Record stores in New York usually open at 10:00 am.) Maybe I tried to visit on a Sunday.
So, I went this year around 2:30 pm of Tuesday, Searching records, nature called, so I asked him, "Can I use a rest room?", "Sure!", he said and kindly handed a key to me, "Go to next door." Rest room was very clean.

Jazz Record Center is at the 8th floor of Chelsea's commercial office building "CAPITOL" located at West 26th Street. Because of no advertising signage outside, it's not easy to find for a first-time visitor, see pictures on this page.

If you purchase over $100 and Mr Cohen is in a good humor, he may discount 10 percent.

I've got 4 LPs below this time.

Reuben Wilson - Blue Breakbeats
Jimmy Smith ft. Kenny Burrell - Keep on Comin'
Jimmy Smith - Prayer Meetin'
(Original Blue Note 4164, $35 )
Sam Taylor & Leo Stephenson - The Moods of
